Sandal Sale

Shoes are the one thing I tend to stock up on during end of season mega sales. Shoes wear SO hard when you live in the city, so I tend to go through sandals in a single season. Luckily, I found a huge selection of my favorite brand Sol Sana at 6pm.com. ALL are at least 60% off, under $50 and ship free when you buy 2 or more.

I can't wait to remember I bought these next year!

Linen

I've been a huge fan of LA brand Reformation since the label launched in 2012. Their easy, feminine pieces are classic and timeless, while still managing to look completely "right now." But let's be real, not everyone can afford the $200+ price tag.

But other retailers are taking notice. Natural materials (think linen and cotton blends) have been taking over along with organic-looking colors and stripes.

I will always love embroidery and boho prints, but there's also something appealing about throwing something on without having to think in 90 degree heat and looking like you just strolled in off the Riviera.

Hint: just add espadrilles and a handmade accessory from previous 2 posts!

Rain, rain...

I can't tell you how close I've come to buying these amazing rain boots from Loeffler Randall. I know, I know, $195 (!!!) for rain boots?! I wouldn't even spend that much on every day boots. But man, aren't they good? The thought of pulling on protective footwear that you're actually excited to wear and actually fit in with the rest of your wardrobe really appeals to me. With spring on the way (and probably more winter weather ahead of us) it's time for me to get over the fantasy boots and get real. And really, the below options from Tjmaxx and 6pm are pretty cool as far as rain boots go.

Fall Wardrobe Essentials; Day 8

Basics are tough. To me they're like a great pair of jeans- you really have to try a lot of brands and decide what works best for you and your lifestyle. Do you wear a suit to work? A formfitting, luxe tee in a rayon blend is probably your best bet. No rules? Creative types have more freedom here and can play around with shape, texture and pattern. At the end of the day, you have to be mindful about what you're wearing your basic tee with and what purpose it will serve. Below is a round-up of both layering pieces and tees that stand on their own.

Bailey 44 mixed stripe tee- $34

Free people thermal tee- $37

Chaser linen tee- $29

Forever 21 viscose/wool tee- 13.90

Fall Wardrobe Essentials; Day 5

Nothing says fall like a good ol' crunching-leaves-through-the-park cozy sweater. I can just picture all of the outfits I'll make in the upcoming months; an oversized sweater with leather leggings, a cropped sweater with a floaty skirt, a cable knit sweater with destroyed boyfriend jeans .. And any of these outfits paired with boots from yesterday's post is basically the perfect fall look. In sweaters I always gravitate towards novelty stitches, an interesting shape (asymmetric hem, high-low hem, oversized, etc) and a marled texture. I think all of these things add up to an expensive looking sweater. Which, of course, you didn't pay full price for.

Free People sweater- $51.99 (was $128)

Funktional cutout sweater- $50.40 (was $168)

Lucky Brand marled sweater- $29.70 (was $99)

Michael Stars cropped sweater- $86.99 (was $350)

French Connection intarsia sweater- $49 (was $148)

Helmut Lang asymmetric sweater- $99 (was $290)

Forever 21 sweater- $24.80

Fall Wardrobe Essentials; Day 4

The ankle boot is probably the most versatile of shoes. They pair equally well with a rolled skinny jean or a flirty dress. They can even help transition summer pieces into early fall. Shorts or a summery maxi dress suddenly seem September-worthy with the right ankle boot. The ankle boot is also universally flattering. The ankle shaft height is key; it doesn't visually cut off the leg. In a caramel shade ankle boots can even be leg-lengthening!

From moto to chelsea, here are some of my faves!

What can I say? I have a thing for men's watches. There is nothing cooler to me than a chunky watch with a colorful mani, some delicate rings, and layered bracelets.

I love this one from action sports company, Neff, via 6pm. The stainless steel construction and black finish give it an slick look but you know it's designed to take a heavy beating.

SUNGLASSES. Usually a big investment, right? You wear them every day, they have to look good with everything, so you go with something basic. Enter, 6pm.com. Outlet sister brand to Zappos, 6pm sells a lot of your favorite apparel and accessory brands (Elizabeth & James, House of Harlow, Maagji, Free People) with a hefty discount.

What I love about these sunglasses from RAEN Optics is that they're high-quality (acetate frames and Carl Zeiss lenses), a classic shape, but still manage to have an edge with the addition of clear frames. And at almost 75% off you can afford to get the classic tortoise pair, too!
